Add text to your video.

Put a title or a few words on your video, then choose how they look and when they show. The text becomes part of the exported MP4.

Add text

Free. No watermark. Works best on desktop Chrome, Edge or Firefox.

How to add text to a video

  1. Add your video and a text

Open the editor in desktop Chrome, Edge or Firefox and add your video with Choose files. Move the playhead to where the text should appear. Open the Text tab and click a style: Serif, Bold, Outline or Paper label.

  2. Type it and place it

Replace “Title” with your words in the Text box. Change Size, and pick a Color from the swatches or the rainbow circle for any other color. Drag the text in the preview to move it, or click Top, Middle or Bottom.

  3. Set when it shows and export

New text shows for up to 3 seconds. Change Start (s) and End (s) under Timing, or drag the ends of its strip on the timeline. Click Export. The export is free and has no watermark.

Which style should I pick?

Serif and Bold have a soft shadow. Outline adds a black edge to light text and a white edge to dark text, so it stays readable on busy footage. Paper label puts dark text on a cream box and has no color choice. The Style menu also has Caption box, which puts a box behind the words.

More than one text

Add as many as you need. Texts that overlap in time go on separate tracks. A higher track shows on top. To edit one later, click it under On the timeline in the Text tab. Text appears and disappears without a fade.

For spoken words, captions are quicker: type them one by one or import an SRT or VTT file.
